Journal of Odisha University of Health Sciences is the official publication of Odisha University of Health Sciences. Launched in 2025, this biannual, peer-reviewed, global and open-access journal is published online only in the English language.

It is a multidisciplinary health sciences journal, covering a wide spectrum of disciplines including medical, dental, ayurveda, pharmacy, homoeopathy, nursing, physiotherapy, and other allied health sciences. The journal aims to promote evidence-based research and contribute to the academic and clinical advancement of health sciences.

Scope of the Journal: Global

The Journal of Odisha University of Health Sciences (JOUHS) aims to promote and disseminate high-quality original research, innovations, case reports and reviews in diverse health disciplines including Medical, Dental, Ayush, Homoeopathy, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy and Nursing. The journal serves as a platform for academic, clinical, and applied research that contributes to improved health outcomes, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advancement in health sciences.

The Journal objectives are:

  • To provide a multidisciplinary forum for researchers, clinicians, and academicians. • To foster evidence-based practices in health sciences.
  • To promote health education, research, and development in clinical and applied healthcare fields.
  • To encourage the development and integration of traditional and modern medical practices.

The scope of JOUHS is global and spans a broad spectrum of health sciences, including but not limited to:

  • Clinical and experimental research in Medical and Dental sciences.
  • Studies in AYUSH disciplines (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy).
  • Nursing practices and education. • Research and innovation in Allied Health Sciences.
  • Pharmacological advancements and drug research.

The Journal of Odisha University of Health Sciences (JOUHS) invites original research articles, review papers, case reports, and short communications for publication in Issue 1, Volume 2 (2025). We welcome submissions from all disciplines of health sciences, including:

  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Ayurveda
  • Homeopathy
  • Pharmacy
  • Nursing
  • Physiotherapy
  • Allied Health Sciences

Submission Deadline: 31 December 2025

  • Mode of Publication: Online only
  • Language: English
  • Frequency: Biannual
  • Manuscripts must be submitted via email to: journalcommitteeouhs@gmail.com

All submissions will undergo a peer review process. Authors are requested to adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines available on the official website of the Odisha University of Health Sciences.

We look forward to your valuable contributions in advancing multidisciplinary health research.

Maximum 8 authors for original research and review articles; four for case reports

Manuscript Types:

  • Research articles (up to 3000 words, including abstract and bibliography excluded).
  • Review articles (up to 4000 words, including abstract and bibliography excluded).
  • Case reports (up to 2000 words, including abstract and bibliography excluded).
  • Innovations (up to 2000 words, including abstract and bibliography excluded).
  • Short communications (up to 1500 words)
  • Tables at the end of the manuscript after Bibliography and figures with legends are to be uploaded in a separately (minimum 300 DPI in TIFF, JPEG, JPG and PNG format).
  • Supplementary files can be uploaded separately.
  • Formatting: Manuscripts should be prepared in MS Word format, doubles paced, with 1-inch margins. Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
  • Structure: Manuscripts should include a Title Page, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Tables and figures should be included at the end of the manuscript.
  • Bibliography: Follow Vancouver style.
  • Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission portal. Include a cover letter stating the importance of the work and its relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Authorship: All authors should have contributed significantly to the research and writing of the manuscript.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism, and submissions found with unethical practices will be rejected.
  • Funding: Source of funding needs to be declared by the authors
  • Submission: Corresponding author will submit manuscripts via the online portal/mail to “journalcommitteeouhs@gmail.com”
  • Initial Screening: Manuscripts are reviewed by the editorial team for relevance, formatting, plagiarism and compliance with submission guidelines.
  • Peer Review: Qualified experts in the field are assigned as reviewers to assess the manuscript’s quality and scientific merit.
  • Revision: If required, authors will revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback.
  • Final Decision: The editorial board makes the final decision on acceptance or rejection.
  • Publication: Accepted manuscripts are copy-edited, proofread, and published online in the upcoming issue.

Formatting Manuscript: The template should include:

  • Title page with author names and affiliations
  • Abstract (maximum 300 words).
  • Key words (three to five)
  • Main text structured into Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • Figures and tables with appropriate legends.
  • Bibliography section, to be formatted according to journal guidelines.

Important additional points:

  • Copyright Transfer Agreement: Authors must submit a signed copyright transfer form upon acceptance, ensuring the journal holds the rights to the published work.
  • Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement: Clearly outline the ethical expectations for authors, reviewers, and editors, adhering to COPE guidelines.
  • Open Access Policy: Open access and Free for publication. – Best three articles in different categories and outstanding reviewer will be felicitated in the university foundation day.

Ethical Approval and Informed Consent

  • Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must have prior approval from an Institutional Ethics Committee or relevant regulatory body.
  • A statement confirming ethical approval and informed consent (where applicable) must be included in the manuscript.

Authorship and Contributions

  • Only individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the work should be listed as authors.
  • All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

Plagiarism and Originality

  • Manuscripts submitted to JOUHS must be original and not published or under consideration elsewhere.
  • All submissions will be screened for plagiarism using standard software.
  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, or duplicate publication will result in immediate rejection or retraction.

Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the research or review process.
  • A conflict of interest statement must be included in the manuscript.

Peer Review Integrity

  • JOUHS follows a double-blind peer review system.
  • Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality and provide unbiased, constructive feedback.

Retraction and Correction Policy

  • Articles found to have serious ethical breaches, data falsification, or major errors post-publication may be retracted or corrected following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
